Water for

Takarai

Project Year

2025

Project Brief

Takarai is a remote village in Botin Loebele District, Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, covering 6,480 m² with seven hamlets. Most residents work in agriculture, producing corn, bananas, and sweet potatoes, and some raise cows, pigs, and chickens.

The residents of Takarai were facing a water crisis, where their supply of clean water was insufficient to meet their daily needs. This is exacerbated by the village's road access, which is very isolated and uneven, making it harder for villagers to obtain water from the available water source. This is detrimental considering that the productivity of agriculture and animal husbandry, as well as their level of education, is highly dependent on the accessibility of clean water.

Moreover, 6 children were also found to experience stunting. This highlights the importance of having clean water in maintaining proper health and nutrition.
