Water for

Tasinifu

Project Year

2024

Project Brief

The village of Tasinifu is a remote village in East Nusa Tenggara. The people of Tasinifu’s previous water source is located 1.3 km away through a steep hill with over 100m in elevation. In a day, the people have to spend 3 to 4 hours to collect enough water for their family’s needs. We plan on using solar panel powered water pumps to flow water from their previous source to a more accessible reservoir.

Implementation Journey

Day 1

Our team, Rangga, Louistrycia, and Puspa, arrived in Kupang followed by a car ride to Tasinifu Village. The locals performed a welcoming ceremony to greet both the Solar Chapter HQ and Canada Team. Since Tasinifu is located right at the border between Indonesia and Timor Leste at the farthest end of Indonesia, close monitoring by the military is required. Hence, our next agenda was to visit the Indonesian Military Base patrolling the border.
